Redbud Ride

The following is a message we received concerning the Redbud Ride on April 17th, 2010 in London KY.

——————-

Hello Cyclists,

I have a few updates on on the Redbud Ride.

  1. A couple people have emailed me that their computers have refused to open the Redbud Ride flyer attachment. Click here for the pdf version of the flier.
  2. Out of town riders may want to make their hotel reservations soon. I have been informed that rooms at our host hotel are going like hotcakes. The host hotel is the Quality Inn on Exit 41 of I75. Their rates are $50 for two beds or $45 for a single bed. The phone number for the Quality Inn is (606) 877-4466. When making reservations make sure you tell them you want the Redbud Ride rate, otherwise you will get charged the normal rate. If anyone cannot get reservations at the Quality Inn let us know. We are working on getting a second host hotel.
  3. The ride distances will to be about 105, 72, 40, and 23 miles this year. The 105 mile Big Red route will have three tough climbs, many hills of various lengths, and several flats. The 72 mile route will be much the same as the 105 with the exception of there will only be two tough climbs. The 40 mile route is mostly rolling and flat and one tough climb. The 23 mile route is rolling to flat with no tough climbs. The 23 is perfect for beginners and families. For people riding the 105, 72, or 40 mile routes and who don’t care to climb hills, there is a shortcut that bypasses the first tough climb. This shortcut will shorten your ride by about 3 miles so the 105 mile riders will still get their century in. There are many places along the 105, 72, and 40 mile routes where riders who have had enough can change to a shorter route.
  4. We have a new Redbud Ride partner organization. The London First United Methodist Church Youth Group has agreed to man one of our rest stops. Thanks to youth group leaders Joe and Michelle Rednour and the LUMC youth group for agreeing to partner with this event.
  5. If you know of others who would like to be on the Redbud Ride email list please send us their names and email addresses.
  6. We are always looking for volunteers and sponsors for the Redbud Ride. If you would like to volunteer for this event, become a sponsor, or would like to serve on the planning committee please send us an email. We would love to have you.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.

Happy Cycling,
Rodney Hendrickson
